Published · Cenlocal summary
Sir Joseph Banks High School’s first major upgrade in 40 years has delivered 16 classrooms, a hall, canteen, sports court and covered outdoor learning area.

Sir Joseph Banks High School in south-west Sydney began Term 4 with additional classrooms and shared facilities following a major upgrade. The NSW Department of Education announced the opening on 13 October 2026.
The department describes it as the school’s first major upgrade in 40 years. The project delivered 16 classrooms, a hall, canteen, sports court and a covered outdoor learning area, adding teaching and recreation spaces for its community.
Sir Joseph Banks was among nine schools where almost 7,000 students began the term in newly upgraded facilities, according to the department. More than 100 permanent classrooms were included across that statewide group. The local facilities have opened; the statewide totals should not be read as figures for this school alone.
