Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Cenlocal collects through its enquiry forms, why, and who receives it.
Who operates Cenlocal
Cenlocal is operated by Cenplus Pty Ltd (ABN 92 160 933 835). You can contact us at contact@cenlocal.au or through cenlocal.au.
Information collected through enquiry forms
When you send an enquiry to a business listed on Cenlocal, we collect your name, email address, optional telephone number, optional preferred contact method, the subject and message you write, and a record that you gave your consent along with the date and time it was given. We also record the date of submission and a technical fingerprint of your connection used only to prevent spam and repeated submissions.
When you use the Contact page, we collect your name, email address, optional telephone number, the enquiry type you choose, your subject and message, and your consent record. Attachments cannot be sent through either form.
Why we collect it
Listing enquiries are collected so the business you selected can respond to you. Contact-page messages are collected so the Cenlocal team can answer your question about the directory, a listing, a claim, a package, incorrect information, a technical problem or your privacy.
Listing enquiries are shared with the business
Your listing enquiry is passed to the verified owner of that listing, or to a business enquiry address a Cenlocal administrator has verified for it. Once the business receives your enquiry, that business is responsible for how it responds and how it handles your information. Cenlocal does not control the business's own privacy practices and cannot guarantee a response or an outcome. Contact-page messages are never sent to a listed business.
Administrative access
Cenlocal administrators can review enquiry records where it is necessary — for example to investigate a message reported as spam or abusive, or to look into a delivery failure. Business owners can only see enquiries for listings they currently own. Someone who has asked to claim a listing cannot see its enquiries until the claim has been approved. Enquiry records are never publicly readable, searchable or listable.
Email delivery
When email notifications are active, Cenlocal sends them from its own verified sender domain using its hosting platform's managed email service, which handles delivery on our behalf. Enquiries are always recorded in the recipient's Cenlocal dashboard as well, so an enquiry is not lost if an email cannot be delivered. We only mark an enquiry as sent when sending has actually been carried out.
Spam prevention
To protect businesses from abuse we validate every submission on our servers, limit how many enquiries can be sent from the same connection or email address in a short period, use a hidden form field that automated systems tend to complete, block identical repeat submissions and flag messages that show common spam patterns for administrator review.
Payments for listing packages
Paid listing packages are processed by PayPal. When you subscribe, you provide your payment details to PayPal, not to Cenlocal, and PayPal handles that information under its own privacy terms. Cenlocal never receives or stores card details. We do keep a record of your subscription: the business and listing it applies to, the package, the PayPal subscription reference, the amount and currency, whether GST is included, the status, the start date, the paid-through and next payment dates, any cancellation date, and the PayPal messages we have received. Administrators can see these records so they can support your account and resolve payment questions.
Accounts, listings and claim evidence
If you create an account we collect your email address and the name, display name, telephone number and business name you choose to give us. Your listing content is published by you and is public once approved. Details you supply for verification — such as an ABN, an exact street address you have chosen not to publish, private contact addresses, and any document uploaded to support a claim — are stored privately, are never published or included in search results, and can only be opened by Cenlocal administrators for verification and support. Uploaded files are held in private storage and are not publicly accessible.
Changes to listings, claims and administrative decisions are recorded in an internal activity history so we can explain what happened and when.
Retention and deletion
Enquiry and contact records are kept while they remain useful to the business or to Cenlocal for support and dispute purposes. A fixed retention period has not yet been set, and we will publish one here once it has been implemented. You may ask us to delete your enquiry information and we will do so unless we are required to keep it. Recipients cannot alter your original message or your consent record.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or raise a privacy concern by using the Contact page and selecting “Privacy enquiry”, or by writing to contact@cenlocal.au. Please include enough detail for us to find the record.
