Published · Cenlocal summary
The NSW Government has confirmed a 7 November opening for the riverfront museum, with free admission and most exhibitions free.

Powerhouse Parramatta is scheduled to open to the public on Saturday 7 November 2026, according to the NSW Government. The museum on the Parramatta River will launch with five exhibitions containing more than 3,000 objects. More than 1,600 will come from the Powerhouse collection, with other material drawn from collections around the world. The government says museum entry and most exhibitions will be free.
One opening exhibition, Task Eternal, will examine flight through design, innovation and technology, including a historic Qantas Avro 504k aircraft. Another, The Mall, will explore shopping centres and their influence on architecture and everyday life. Spread over two storeys, it will combine more than 560 Powerhouse objects with over 280 loans, alongside community stories and ephemera.
