New ACT online hub gathers options for unwanted textiles
Published · Cenlocal summary
A new ACT Government directory brings donation, resale, reuse and recycling pathways for clothes and household textiles together.

Canberrans looking for alternatives to discarding unwanted clothes and fabric can use the ACT Government’s new Textiles Hub. Announced on 21 October 2026, the digital directory gathers donation, resale, reuse and recycling options on the City Services website.
The hub is part of the ACT’s A–Z Guide to Recycling and Waste. Listings explain what organisations accept and where items can be dropped off. Residents should check individual acceptance rules before travelling, because not every collection service takes the same materials.
Suitable clothes may be passed on or sold, while fabric and household textiles may have other reuse options. Heavily soiled or damaged items may not be accepted. For textiles that cannot be reused, repaired or recycled, ACT guidance specifies the red-lidded general-waste bin, not the yellow-lidded recycling bin. The directory offers pathways rather than guaranteeing every textile can be recycled.
