Bradfield Park Under Sydney Harbour Bridge Set for Upgrade
Published · Updated · Cenlocal summary
The NSW Government and North Sydney Council have announced plans to return more open space and improve Bradfield Park near the northern pylons of the Harbour Bridge.

Bradfield Park at Milsons Point, beside the northern pylons of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, is set for improvements under plans announced by the NSW Government in partnership with North Sydney Council.
What has been announced
The NSW Government says the existing maintenance worksite next to the northern pylon will be scaled back, returning as much space as possible to the community while keeping the area needed for bridge maintenance. That compound currently supports repainting and rust removal ahead of the bridge's centenary in 2032.
Other confirmed plans include:
- upgraded hoardings and planting around the remaining worksite
- landscaping, improved drainage and new turf, led by Transport for NSW during 2027, to address erosion at the site
- an extension of Bradfield Plaza at the northern end of the park with new paved areas that could host community events such as markets in future
- a long-term masterplan for the park, to be started by North Sydney Council
The government says Transport for NSW will also work with the council on further ideas such as new furniture, trees and vegetation, and that more land may be returned for community use as bridge work is completed.
Why it matters locally
Bradfield Park is one of the most visited green spaces on the lower North Shore, used by residents, commuters and visitors walking to and from the bridge. More usable lawn, better drainage and room for community events could make the park more comfortable and accessible for everyone who uses it.
